Algonquin Provincial Park. Canoe Trip: Tim River / Back at the large dam

On the way out we followed the same route as we came in by so had to climb over the dams.

The water level in the lower stretch of the river (near Rosebary) had dropped considerably over the days we camped there and so there was much pushing and shoving off reed beds and muddy banks. It was not an option to get out of the canoe as the water was alive with leeches and you would probably sink into the mud up to your chest (like Humphrey Bogart in The African Queen)!

When we got to this dam we realised why! Having damaged it on the way in, the beaver had not only repaired the dam but added about a foot to it.
